Psychological First Aid (PFA) is based on the evidence informed principles of safety, calming, connectedness, hope and self/community efficacy. Participants will learn to assist individuals to reduce distress after a potentially traumatic event. PFA is culturally informed and appropriate for all.

Participants will learn culturally informed communication and de-escalation strategies to better support veterans, their families, and fellow officers in the field.

Training reinforces evidence-based crisis intervention tactics and communication strategies. Officers must exhibit practical verbal de-escalation skills and pass a knowledge check to become recertified.
