psychological first aid - november 16, 2026 - OPEN!

Location: Somerville Police Department

Training Dates: November 16, 2026

Time: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Psychological First Aid (PFA) is based on the evidence informed principles of safety, calming, connectedness, hope and self/community efficacy. Participants will learn to assist individuals to reduce distress after a potentially traumatic event. PFA is culturally informed and appropriate for all.

 

beyond their service - november 17, 2026 - OPEN!

Training Dates: November 17, 2026

Time: 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Conducted by Eagle Eye Consulting, Beyond Their Service provides law enforcement and first responders with a deeper understanding of military and veteran culture and how BattleMind may influence behavior and responses. Participants will learn culturally informed communication and de-escalation strategies to better support veterans, their families, and fellow officers in the field.

CIT Recertification is a one-day training that reviews core CIT principles. Officers build upon their practical knowledge of mental illness, suicide prevention, substance misuse, trauma, special populations, as well as behavioral health and crisis resources. Training reinforces evidence-based crisis intervention tactics and communication strategies. Officers must exhibit practical verbal de-escalation skills and pass a knowledge check to become recertified.

Training Dates: December 1, 2, 3, 8 & 9

Time: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (each day)
